Mum's the word

We found it pretty hard this weekend to keep the baby secret. We went to Grandma Colleen's house because your Great-Grandma Higley was in town. It was announced that Justin's cousin Mandy is pregnant and due in early November. Grandma Colleen looked right at me and said, "I was expecting my first great-grandchild from you." Justin and I looked at each other because it would have been nice to tell her that we won't be far behind. Plus... your Grandpa Scott took some teasing from his younger brother Phil, on becoming a grandpa first.

Afterwards we headed over to Grandma Purple's house to say hello (your great-grandma). As soon as we sat down she said (almost yelled), "Congratulations!" Your dad and I just looked at each other -a little surprised, but then realized she was talking about the new house. It was a little scary!

One more week and it won't be a secret anymore... everyone will be just as excited as we are for your arrival!

5 weeks and counting

Well, yesterday I had another blood test and everything is going well. I scheduled our first prenatal appointment (May 2) which is one day before we're planning on moving into our new house.

I think dad and I have decided that we can't wait very long and we're going to tell your grandparents (all 6 of them) on April 6th. It's general conference weekend and we'll be celebrating Nana Hardcastle's birthday with the family. I hope we can even make it that long without letting it slip out!

Oh... hello.

Well baby... We know you're there now. We don't know much else at this point. Your dad isn't convinced that it's for real quite yet, but I think I've known for a couple of days. I went for my first blood draw this morning and will have another in 48 hours -just to make sure everything is going as planned.

I think I'm more nervous/anxious than anything and the excitement hasn't quite hit me, but I'm sure it will. Your dad is already hoping you'll come on his birthday (November 28) so... we'll see what comes of that.

I promise to 'take it easy' and do everything I can to create a near perfect environment for you over the next 9 months... so I'd appreciate the same courtesy!
