Day out with Thomas

We bought tickets to ride the REAL Thomas the Train up in Heber City this weekend. I was super excited and thought you would be too. And you were, but you didn't get a great nap and the next day you came down with a cold, which probably explains the couple of little meltdowns you had.

I've been using it as a reinforcement/reward for potty training, so you've known it's been coming for a while.

Your reaction when you first saw the Thomas engine was awesome, and you loved the actual train ride.

You were okay when we saw the Sir Topham Hatt, and played with the train tables. Too many kids and far too few trains in that area though!

You also enjoyed your first cotton candy!

It was a fun day and you're still talking about it, which is a lot of fun for me and dad.

Reading

I've really been into taking video's lately. Here are Hyrum's two favorite books to read before bed. One is Opposites (the video cut off a little early) and But not the Hippopotomus.

Missed you

You've been so much fun lately. Every since Mother's Day you tell me "Happy Mothers Day" at least once a day. You stayed at Mimi and Papa's all day today while I went to the temple for Jodi today and then had friends over for a coupon class in the afternoon. When I finally picked you up you kept saying that you missed me on the way home. In fact, I just went in and checked on you (suggesting you stop jumping from your dresser or bed and go to sleep) and you told me that you missed me again.

We went to the zoo with Laila and Nolan this week. They have a dinosaur exhibit this summer, which you liked -until one of the dinosaurs 'spit water on you'.

We've been trying to practice for pictures this week. If I get you to look at the camera you either don't smile, or do a pretty funky scrunched up nose look. I know Terra is a great photographer... but I'm a little worried about getting a few good pictures on Tuesday.
You love making Baby Kate laugh and smile, and you're better at it than any of the rest of us. She just absolutely loves you, I can't wait until you guys start actually playing together.

Things you say...

I think every mom get's a kick out of the stuff their kids say and do, and we all try to somehow remember them. So, if you'll indulge me... I'll try to keep them here.

Every morning when we open your door (yes, you sleep with the door shut, and thanks to our unique door handles, you still can't open them) you say "Good morning" and come into our room.

You love coming in to Kates room in the morning and after naps to say "Good morning" and ask her if she wants a clean diaper. You've also started asking her if she wants a bottle in her mouth when she is crying.

You'd eat chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, hot dogs, and 'eggs and waffles' for every meal if you could. The good thing is, you'd also eat a dozen bananas every day, along with apples and oranges. So, I guess you're getting a balanced diet. Oh, and don't forget the chocolate milk -we have Grandma Hardcastle to thank for that one.

You're very good at saying "I sorry" when you hurt someone. You love to announce that "I'm here, mom" and "I'm running" whenever possible.

You've started dipping your food -the usual, like chicken nuggets and ketchup, but you've started dipping everything. The other day dad was dipping his fries into a frosty, and you started. And then you dipped your chicken nugget into the frosty as well. This morning you dipped your scrambled eggs into your yogurt. Mm-mm.

You're obsessed with everything 'scary'. We recently got a book from the library called "How Scary" and it's a close 2nd to any of your train books. You have watched Monsters Inc. at Grandma Hardcastle's one too many times, and we have to check your closet before bedtime. You get scared over some silly things, but you get a kick out of trying to scare other people.

Your dad does everything he can to get you to say "Me too" and "You're welcome", which you happen to do very often.

And, since you're a boy... I have to include this one. You started saying that you pooped, when you farted. So I told you that you just had gas and to say 'excuse me'. So, now you say "Excuse me, I have gas" all of the time.

Easter weekend

There was candy and toys.

Easter egg hunts

and swinging.

Grandma's

and cousins.

Sisters

and baskets.

And, on Monday we all went to the Treehouse museum in Ogden with
Grandma Hardcastle. You and your dad had a great time running around to all of the exhibits, and Kate enjoyed hanging out with mom.
