Preschool Carnival

Today was your end of the school year Carnival.  Each member of your class were supposed to do a circus act.  I wasn't quite sure what that meant, but we decided on animal trainer.  Alligator trainer, to be exact.  I realize that Alligators aren't usually in the circus -but that's all I could find!

When I got to school to get a video of your little act, I realized you and Kate had filled my phone with pictures the other night, and I couldn't record it.  I did manage to record you practicing the night before.

There were lion tamers, tight robe walkers, and a little girl dancing to some kind of circus themed song.  They also had face painting, a little bounce house, fishing game, and a cupcake walk.  You can Kate had a great time.  (Milo missed his nap, so he was a little short on attention).

Keeping busy

You're keeping us pretty busy as we head into summer.  Your last day of school is next week (although you're going to do 6 weeks of summer school too, so you'll hardly realize the difference).  Baseball ends next week too (no more commuting to Herriman twice a week during rush hour).  And, as always, you want to know where we're going today, and tomorrow, and the next day.  You don't like to stick too close to the house all day long.

I've tried to keep track of a few things you've said over the last little while...

-A character on a tv show you were watching said he had the greatest sister in the world.  You said, "No, I have the greatest sister in the world?"

-While you and Kate were playing outside, "Kate come on.  We're going to save the word and things."

-"Girls just like flowers and boys like dinosaurs."

- While you were showing me your dance moves I asked where you learned them from.  You said, "No where.  Well, Jesus taught them to me, I guess."

-You want me to count to random numbers all of the time and get me to do addition problems for you all of the time (Mom, what's 5 + 10 +10 + 7 + 100 + 1 +10?)  I'll have you know, thanks to my 6th grade teacher who used to play those games with our class whenever we were waiting for something I can honestly say I'm pretty spot on with your little quizzes.

You're obsessed with good guys and bad guys.  You found Power Rangers on Netflix, and you've officially moved past Thomas the Train and Super Why to Superhero's and Ninja fighting (your words, not mine).

You had your spring program for preschool and you did awesome!  You guys sang a whole bunch of songs and you were one of 5 or 6 kids with a special speaking part.  You ended up getting to say it twice because they got out of order a little bit.  I'm very sad to say I didn't get any video of it.  I took a few 30 second clips, but I lost it all when I was trying to upload it to the computer (this was the second time it's happened, I'm wondering if the card I'm using has something wrong with it).  The good news was dad got to see almost all of it because I was using facetime on my phone with him, but no last videos!  Sorry -there's always next year.

You've done really great this year in tball.  So much that I'm pretty sure we're going to hold off a year before we start Kate playing.  Your attention span had more than doubled and you enjoy being there (instead of it being a fight last year) and you've actually gotten a little bit better at it too.  You've struggled with throwing the ball overhand (you opted for kind of a side pitch sort of throw) and somehow from last week and this week, you've seemed to figure it out.

Baseball season

Your first game of the season was last night.  And, for one reason or another I didn't have Kate and Milo with me (they were home with aunt Karen).  So... I tried to get a LOT of pictures.  With two other kids to entertain, I haven't managed to get many pictures during practices, and who knows if I'll manage to leave a kid or two at home again.  I also took a couple of videos, more for dad than anyone else.

You're still not that great at catching and throwing, but you're hitting the ball better and your attention span has improved 100% from last year.  I bet I won't have to go and get you off of the vollyball sand once this spring.  You also seem to like it a lot better too.

One more note -it was freezing!  And, I came a little unprepared.  I think you were okay for the most part (two t-shirts and a jacket) but mom was a different story.  I won't be surprised if I dress all of us in our winter gear on Thursday -just in case.

Lately

One of the best things about challenging myself to post daily is I start looking for things to write about.  So, sometimes I end up with posts about nothing, but hopefully I also end up with a few things I'm glad I recorded.

Like this... I've been writing down things you've said in the last little while.

-I want to be the real Spider-Man when I grow up.

-Heavenly Father is Jesus' friend

-You're a good organer (someone who plays the organ) and teacher (I was going to teach organ lessons)

-(I had to go down our windowsill to get some toys that were thrown down there) Be careful mom, there's a family of spiders down there.  Spiders have families too!

-I have great ninja skills.

You haven't been feeling too good the last few days and fell asleep this afternoon watching the iPad

Your teachers also mentioned that you love to help in class and you're a great counter and are catching on to addition really quickly.  -You've sort of been a bit obsessive about counting, that's all we do now.  That and figure out what 1+1+10+5+3 is, or 10+10+5+1+0 is, it usually only ends when you add the word eyeball or poop in there and then you start laughing.

You've been a great help lately and I'm trying to cash in on that desire to help in class, today you helped me put away all of the dishes from the dishwasher.

Pajama Day

A few weeks ago the kids had a primary activity (on a Saturday) where they got to wear their pajama's to the church and they had a pancake breakfast.  You keep talking about it.

So, when I got this months preschool calendar and told you that you got to wear pajama's to school you were so excited you've probably asked me when the day was at least once a day for the past 3 weeks.  

Today was the day.  You was so excited!

Grandma Hardcastle took you to the store when you spent the night last week and let you pick out a new pair of pj's for the occasion.
