What's on the menu?

Rice, Oatmeal and Whole Wheat cereal? Check.

Sweet Potato? Check.

Carrots? Check.

Applesauce? Not so much.

Pea's? No way.

I think we'll try peaches today.

As a side note (and to be able to add a picture)... your bumper pads came unhooked from one side the other day. Before I fixed it, I found you more than once like this...

Ahhhh Mess!

We started 'real' food this week, and so far, so good. You've done well with the rice and oatmeal cereal and you had sweet potato for the first time yesterday. I think we'll do carrots tomorrow, since I just steamed and pureed a bunch.

Tonight you were a mess! You had your first two course meal tonight (rice and sweet potato) AND water! I didn't do our usual mid-feeding clean-up, so this is what you looked like at the end of dinner.

I'll take average

I'm not sure why I haven't posted in so long. I think I kept thinking I was going to get your pictures done and I was going to post then that I waited. Almost a month!

Well, you've had a good month. You're getting a lot better (and faster) at rolling over from your front to your back towards both sides, -but you favor falling to your right. I think you're getting closer to rolling over from your back to your front, but you haven't quite made it yet.

You're a little jabber-box when you're in a good mood, and you do this grunting thing when you're concentrating on something or you're tired. You've been pretty sick the last 2 months - just colds and coughs that you can't seem to get rid of, nothing too serious.

You still LOVE to bounce and get a kick out of watching other kids -including yourself in the mirror. We've been watching the "Your baby can read" series and you like the videos a lot -I guess time will tell whether or not they'll help you read. You actually like watching ANYTHING on TV.

You really love music -especailly when people are singing. When you're fussy during Young Womens or Sunday School at church I walk down to the Primary Room and you always calm down when the kids are signing.

We were scheduled to take some 6 month pictures right before Mothers Day, but the day got rained out. I think we'll get to them in the next week or two and I'm sure they'll be awesome!
You went in for your 6 month checkup today. 17 pounds 2.5 oz and 26 and a half inches. 50% percentile for both height and weight. We must be doing something right.
Here are some pictures from the last month or so.

Sleep-over

I'm actually getting a little teary-eyed just thinking about it.

Not because I'm worried about YOU.

But, I'm worried about me.

Relatively speaking, I think you're a pretty 'easy' baby.

But, even easy babies are pretty hard. And, with your cold the last few weeks, I haven't been able to sleep for even 3 hours in a row.

So, your Grandma Hardcastle offered to take you for a night.

A whole night.

A whole night of peace and quiet.

A whole night of sleep.

And I whole night without you.

I think you'll do fine. The three people (Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Jodi) that will be there to take care of you are definitely among the ones that have the patience, love, and ability to care for you (and any baby)... but it's still causing me a bit of anxiety.

I can't tell if these tears are from exhaustion or the thought of you not being right next to me. Probably both.

I may feel a little differently in a few hours when you want to be fed again. (And then again a couple hours after that).

But for now, I'm already missing you.

If only for a little bit.

A little bit sick!

You've been a little miserable for the last two weeks. Stuffy nose, cough, a mild fever, and NO sleep!
We sat at the doctor's office for 90 minutes on Saturday -just to make sure it wasn't serious, but I think you're turning around.
You're starting to get the hang of your rice cereal -adding pear juice has helped.

You're laughing a bit more and growing out of all of your clothes! Some things you barely even wear once -although you're still right at the 50th Percentile (16 pounds 1 oz at the doctor visit).
